I started learning drums to just clear my head and focus on rhythm. It’s loud, messy, and fun, every time I play, I feel like I’m slowly getting better.
I’ve been getting into different drumming styles: West African beats with their raw energy, and jazz with its flow and freedom. Both are completely different, but that’s what keeps me hooked.
Sitting at the kit feels like my own space. I mess up a lot, but I can tell I’m getting better each time I play.
One song I always enjoy drumming to is Let Her Go by Passenger, the rhythm just feels great to play.
The drums keep teaching me patience and rhythm in a way nothing else has. I’m still learning, still missing beats, but that’s part of the fun.
